Springtime usually marks the beginning of professional baseball with the smells of freshly cut grass, ballpark hotdogs, and dirt stained jerseys. But this spring, Monday.com is introducing a whole new kind of Major League….the Monday.com Major League for Monday Apps developers!

This new league provides a friendly yet competitive way for developers of all levels to get involved with Monday Apps and earn some seriously cool prizes. And no league is complete without an end of season championship culminating with a trophy celebration. Professional athletes usually get a ring for the championship seasons but Monday Apps champions will receive a Tesla!

The MAML champ will drive off in this Tesla, will it be you?

So what is Monday Apps Major League?

The MAML (Monday Apps Major League) will be a bi-annual global competition that runs with 3 distinct phases.

Phase 1: Preseason

During the preseason, you will be tasked with completing a qualification assignment. This challenge will require developers to complete one or two small apps by following Monday Apps tutorials. For example, “Build a simple board view” or “Create a simple recipe using our integrations template”.

At the completion of the 2 month preseason, all developers that participate and at least register a Monday Apps account will receive a swag pack with exclusive MAML stickers for that particular season. Developers that complete the necessary tasks will qualify for the regular season! (And receive their MAML jersey)

Phase 2: Regular Season

The Regular Season will consist of once a week live-coding competitions on Twitch. In each round, 3 competitors will join the livestream and be given a small app to complete, for example “Build a feature that allows teams to create a poll on Monday item”. In addition to amazing MAML host Lior Raz, a Monday mentor will help support contestants.

Nobody can build up the drama like host Lior!

A typical show overview:

Host Lior introduces our contestants to find out where in the world they live, what’s their preferred programming language/framework, ask them about any Monday apps they have built, and generally find out what makes them amazing.

The weekly challenge will be announced and host Lior will ask each contestant individually how they plan to attack the challenge.

With the contestants hidden from screen, host Lior will now introduce the first at home challenge for the audience. For example, the first 3 audience members who can answer, “How many permission scopes are available in Monday apps?” will receive digital swag of 10$ in Monday credits.

The remainder of the show the host will: hop between contestants, engage the audience with interactive contests, bring on guests from the Monday engineering team, and talk about other Monday developer relations opportunities.

At the end of each contest (~2hours), the competitors will showcase what they were able to build. Submissions will be judged for completeness and creativity. Like America Idol, the audience will be able to vote for their favorite contestant. Each week’s winner will be awarded 2 points and second place will receive 1 point. However all 3 contestants will be able to win a further point by writing up their app build as a blog post for the Monday Apps blog.

The regular season will last for 3 months at which point the top 4 competitors will make it to the playoffs!

Phase 3: Playoffs

The playoffs are what MAML are all about! In these final two weeks, participants will really be pushed to shine. Contestants will be able to earn bonus points for fan interaction, creative costumery, and more. After the head2head finale, there will be only one true Monday Apps champion! Will you be the one driving away in a Tesla? Register Now!
